Like what was mentioned earlier, you have to create a design or layout for your wet room. You have to think of each and every detail such as exact measurements, arrangement and positioning of the fixtures, color, lighting, ventilation, drainage, and a lot more. You might think it is just a waste of time to draw it on paper. But think of it this way—your time and money will be wasted more if the design that you had in mind did not work out well in the actual construction. This might require reconstruction which means additional money and time.
If you do not have any idea on how to design a wet room, you can research for different designs over the internet. There are hundreds of designs out there that are suitable for almost all types, sizes, and shapes of rooms. You can mix and match designs or ideas. It is all up to you. But make sure that your chosen design is appropriate for your house’s theme.
Make your design functional and practical. Most people sometimes focus too much on the attractiveness of the design that they tend to neglect the real function of the room. When you design a wet room, make sure that the real function of the room is not affected by the design.
Choose a design that is colourful. If you feel bored with your wet room’s white color, choose another more interesting color such as blue, yellow, or green. Again, consider the function of the room. For example, choose a romantic color if you and your partner usually take a bath together or you can choose a fun and wholesome color if the bath is generally used by the whole family. Adding color to your wet room does not mean only one color. You can be more daring about this by adding a splash of colors in the most unexpected places inside the wet room.
You should also consider the textures that you will have in your wet room. Wet rooms are usually tiled because it is a place where people use water. Having ceramic tiles adds smoothness to your wet room. Other smooth features are the toilet, sink, metal or glass fixtures such as tap or mirror, and other fixtures. You can add rough texture by displaying some accessories such as a woollen rug or some colourful bath towels.
You should never feel overwhelmed if you have a big house project such as designing a new room like the wet room. As long as you have proper information and materials and tools, then you can turn your dream wet room into a reality.
