Solar Powered Bird Bath Fountains

Solar powered bird bath fountains are becoming more and more popular among homeowners these days. There was a time when only birdwatchers favored this kind of backyard décor, but now it seems that more people are seeing a lot of benefits when it comes to having a small piece for everyone’s feathered friends. For starters, a well situated fountain can beautify its surroundings almost effortlessly. It does not matter if you are having a flower explosion in your backyard, or you prefer a level green landscape. A bird bath fountain will always attract the eye and present a calm disposition to anyone looking.

And with that comes the fact that these décor may help increase the value of your home. This is not particularly bad especially if you consider the cost of buying one fountain against other home improvement projects. If you are extremely lucky, you can get a nice looking piece for a mere cost of $40. Also, solar powered bird bath fountains run (as the name suggests) with sunlight power. This means that you do not have to worry about a sudden increase on your utility bill. These solar powered fountains are also very easy to install; although access to water is essential. If the idea of installing such a fountain in your home sounds enticing, here are some tips on how to buy one (or more.)

1. Try to consider how much space you can provide for the bird bath fountain. A very small fountain may be overwhelmed amidst a sea of foliage. At the same time, a very large fountain may be too expansive that there will be hardly any space for your plants or for people. If possible, try to visualize the perfect spot where your fountain should stand and then take measurements as to how large the base of the fountain should be and how high it can reach. If you have trees or other overhanging structures in your “perfect spot” you may want to: prune these back, remove the overhanging structures, or move your “perfect spot” to a better location. Falling leaves and other debris coming from the anything above it can muddy up the bird bath waters very quickly.

2. Always make sure that your fountain is safe from opportunistic predators, specifically the tabby cat from across the street. Aside from keeping the birds safe while they are in your backyard, this guarantees that the predators will not scratch, knock over or sully the fountain in any way.

3. Choose the solar panels that will best suit your “perfect spot.” Fortunately, there are now 3 kinds of solar powered bird bath fountains. One kind is where the panels are situated right into the bath, and it solar batteries are to be found at its base. The other one has solar panels also in the bath, but the batteries can be stored somewhere else. (A nearby shed would be great.) And the last one is where the solar panels and the batteries are situated someplace more discreet and is connected with a long electrical conduit to the base of the fountain.
